Christopher Meadows

Lives and works in the Clare Valley, South Australia

Having worked as an artist, illustrator and educator for most of his life, Christopher has been actively involved in creating and promoting visual art in both Australia and overseas. Following his visual arts training in Adelaide South Australia, he continued to work for many years in local schools in both country and metropolitan areas. In more recent years he extended his visual art experiences by taking the opportunity to work in the UK, France and Japan.

Upon returning to South Australia in 2014, he decided to concentrate full time on his painting and sculpture, eventually establishing his studio/gallery in the Clare Valley of South Australia. Christopher has since won several major art awards including the Parklands Art Prize, West Torrens Art Prize and Watershed Art Prize.

His passion for figurative art has always provided inspiration and has become the foundation for his work as an artist. He is regarded as a careful compositional draftsman who uses traditional mediums and techniques to develop images and forms that conveys an enigmatic quality. Natural and urban landscapes, combined with familiar memories of domestic life remain a constant source of inspiration.
