Christopher Meadows
Lives and works in the Clare Valley, South Australia
Having worked as an artist and educator throughout his life, Christopher has been actively involved in creating and promoting visual art in both Australia and overseas. Following his visual arts training at the Adelaide College of the Arts and Education in South Australia, he continued to maintained both a studio and educational practice. In 2009 he decided to further broaden his visual art experiences in the UK, France and Japan.
Upon returning to South Australia in 2014, he began to concentrate full time on painting and sculpture, eventually establishing his studio/gallery (Studio Meadows) in the Clare Valley. Christopher has since won several major art awards including the Parklands Art Prize, West Torrens Art Prize and Watershed Art Prize. He is currently represented by Art Images Gallery and Wonderground Gallery.
His passion for figurative art has been evident throughout his career and has become the foundation for his work as an artist. He is regarded as a careful compositional draftsman who uses traditional mediums and techniques to develop images and forms that convey a familiar yet enigmatic quality. Natural and urban landscapes, combined with memories of domestic life remain a constant source of inspiration.
